first time posting. picked up this glove yesterday. great shape. had to re string the top web and across the fingers. i picked up a repair lacing at sports authority. but of course new lacing is not the right color. i dropped the lacing in red mahogany stain which matched beautifully. re laced and it looks great. anyone ever seen a whitehead glove. and what it might bring. thanks kevin

Schultz Athletic Goods was out of New York. Whitey Whitehead was a utility infielder for the NY Giants in the 1930's. That may explain how he came to endorse a Glove for that manufacturer. Your glove has similarities to the Ken-Wel Brand, also out of New York. Ken-Wel may have made the glove for Schultz Athletic Goods. Your glove is from an obscure manufacturer featuring an obscure player. There is a market for that especially among collectors who want every player from a particular favorite team. The glove is high quality which really helps, with the only down side being the worn off cloth patch. Someone may give you $100 if they really needed Whitey to complete a team collection and the Ken-Wel link was interesting to them. Check out http://www.baseballglovecollector.com for great pictures and info and obtain a copy of the Vintage Baseball Glove Catalog Source Book by Joe Phillips which details the various glove brands through the years starting in the 1800's. Search ebay under seller bubbared and contact Joe for more info. Good glove hunting!
