Genuine Horsehide 1655 questions

I was given an older glove about 20 years ago. I just found it again and wanted to find some information on it.

It says on the palm "Genuine Horsehide 1655"

I have also attached some pictures of the glove, any information will be useful.

The model number suggest it was a JC Higgins glove - probably without the stamping to be made for generic sale. It looks like it's from the 1930's, maybe early 40's.

The 1655 is the Lefty O'Doul model.
