The ebay glove Joe mentions pictured below,

looks similar to the J.C. Higgins "Mel Ott" model below.

Here is a glove that Greg just posted on "Glove of the Month(Jan.)" similar to the 2 gloves above. It is a "Lefty" Gomez Wilson "Short Finger" model 601. It seems to date to circa 1940. it is possible that Wilson made the J.C. Higgins "Mel Ott" glove above. The webbing of the 2 gloves is a little different. The model 601 with the reinforced triple tunnel web was a top of the line model. I checked the Wilson 1935 and 1937 catalog models and they seem to be button backs.
