I liked the style of the "Benny Bengough" mitt the minute I picked it up from a local garage sale. It was well used and torn but the snap wrist strap was pretty cool. I eventually sold it but was always looking for a better example. Below is the ad from a 1929 Spalding catalog and a picture from John Graham's collection of the model BB.

below is my updated version of the Spalding model BB. This mitt was manufactured by George Reach circa 1935-1940 and is model A8 "Professional Model". The tag on the back is from Pond Sports Shop in Appleton Wisconsin. Finger stall vent holes were added and finger cinch lacing. An extra snap was added for adjustment.

Very cool, Mike. I live close to Appleton and remember Pond Sports. They were in a neat old building downtown and managed to stay open until the early 90's. Probably closed due to the same old story; the big retail chains and the new mall.
