I won this glove on ebay last week. I liked the way the the front side of the mitt looked and noticed it had the black and white Spalding patch. I was looking it over after I recieved it and noticed some writing.

It reads:
Royal Grays
1909
V. A. Winchell

I've googled every combination of the names, date, possibly team and have found nothing. I thought some of you east coast guys might recognize something(mitt came from New York). A stretch maybe, but worth a try.

I saw your mitt on ebay and really liked the front. I don't bid too much any more but I think you got a nice one. I am including a picture of my Reach version of your mitt. Instead of the skinny little wrist strap on so many of the mid level models, yours has the flared heavy duty version with rivets at both sides of the wrist strap and also at the bottom of the wrist opening. This is one of the key features of a top of the line Reach/Spalding mitt. Hope you find some info on the Royal Greys. Am surprised a Google search didn't bring up anything. Did you try the Books/Periodicals section of Google? Sometimes odd team statistics pop up.
