Saw this on ebay recently and thought it was kind of interesting because I'd thought that Rawlings stopped making their Playmaker after 1959. Wonder if they sold many of these or if the style didn't catch on again as it had in the 50s? Pretty sure that they brought the 3-finger model back yet again more recently.

OKs right. I think Rawlings experiemented in the 1970s with bringing back the 3 finger style only in the modern hinge, longer style. I think there was a Joe Rudi model too. These were "PG" styles and made overseas I believe. The experiment didn't last long. The idea of the three-finger gloves was to accommodate a stronger closing action on the glove which the hinge accomplished anyway.

I can also distinctly remember seeing a Brooks Robinson 70's style Playmaker.
Rawlings revived the three-finger design in their "Vice" series of gloves not too many years ago (early 2000's?).
I bought a new MacGregor "Big Mac" SB4 (14" softball model) around 1980 that had three fingers. Really liked it and used it until it fell apart about 15 years later.

anyone know what kind of leather these 'playmaker' are made from? i had trouble using the Rawlings codes to translate them...in particular, i'm wondering about the 70's Brooks Robinson model?
