Hi All
This in an invitation for all Northeast (and any other glovers where ever you are) glove collectors to get together at my house on Saturday, April 4th, 2009. We are located in north central CT, just a couple miles off I-91 and minutes from Bradley International Airport for anyone who wants to fly in. Don't have a time set yet but I was think around 12 or 1 and I'll have plenty of food to share with everyone. Feel free to bring a couple gloves to show off / trade / sell, etc. If you are interested in attending, either send me a PM or an email to
vintagebrett@yahoo.com. Hope lots of people can make it! Thanks.

Just a quick update - I've received a couple notes of people who will be attending - there is always room for more and all glove collectors are welcome.
I thought would give some approximate driving times if people were curious. From Northern New Jersey it's about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive. From New York City around 2.5 hours. From Boston it is 1.5 hours. From central VT it is about 2.5 hours and from Southern ME it's about 3 hours. As we get more people coming, maybe we can set up some carpools for people coming from similar locales.

Are Yankees fans allowed in the door?

Absolutely! Anyone is welcome to come. We can discuss how hilarious Hank Steinbrenner's comments will be when the Yankees don't make the 2009 Postseason even after spending all that money.

Just a reminder that we are about a month away - I have 6 or 7 confirmed so far - would love for more to attend. Still waiting to hear from those city dwellers (Mike, Jerry, etc.) - a day out in the country will do you good!
A thought from another collector who is attending - he is bringing his wife and they are staying at Mohegan Sun casino (about an hour from our place) and he is coming to the glove get together. If you are looking for a weekend away, this might be something to consider. I've been to Foxwoods but I've heard great things about Mohegan as well.

Would love to meet everybody, but April 4th is still too cold to put the top down for a road trip! My wife and I have plans that weekend, unfortunately. I was hoping the get-together would get pushed backa few weeks, but I guess there's been a great response. Sorry I'm going to miss it, but I'll be sure to catch the next one.

I'll be happy if it's nice enough to take the snow tires off my car!
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi
Just a reminder that the date is approaching quickly! I've sent messages to people who had an interest in attending with more details. If I forgot anyone or if you would like to come, just let me know and I'll give you the rundown. Hopefully the weather will be nice!

Today was the day! Thanks to Andy S. and William P. (Number9) who made the way down to join my dad and I. We had a fantastic time talking about gloves, equipment and baseball in general. Andy has been collecting along time so it was nice to reminisce about dealers/collectors we've dealt with over the years. William has been doing some excellent research on early baseball lately and will have something really cool to share with the community soon - we got a sneak peak today and it is pretty incredible - we were all very impressed! Hopefully next time we can get a couple more collectors to join us because it was a great time. I'm thinking maybe in October - I know those New York fans will be able to join us because their team will be done playing then.
From left to right - William, Andy, Brett (yeah, great picture of me), and Fred

Brett,
Sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to next one. It was a great idea to have a get together and hopefully more people will turn out next time.
Matt
