Happy 2009 to everyone. Hope you find what you are looking for this coming year.

Went back to last New Year's post and this is what I wrote:

vintagebrett wrote:Happy 2008 to all ye in Glove Collector Land. My main goal for 2008 is to find a house to display all my gloves in! Actually, we found the perfect house, now we just need to figure out how to pay for it. Other than the house, I'm going to continue to focus on my Sonnett/OK collection, hopefully adding more OK models during the coming year.

I already started organizing my calendar and I'm looking forward to a bunch of great shows this year, including the National in Chicago. If anyone else is planning on going, let me know.

Guess I did pretty good with my goals - bought the perfect house and added some nice OK models.

Goals for 2009:
1) Add a crescent fielders glove to the mix
2) Find a couple more barrister bookcases for displaying gloves
3) Find an OK MFG glove box and some OK MFG catalogs

Fellow Glove Lovers,
Here's to green lights and blue skys. Lots of vintage gloves and a better economy wouldn't hurt.
Happy New year everyone!

Happy Near Year to all.

I will agree this forum is the nicest forum that I have ever been involved with. The members really seem to like to help other members find what they are looking for and will try to help each other with what ever issues they may have regarding anything glove oriented.

Thinking back on 2008, it was a lot about staying "Heads Up" as much as possible. Wasn't it still the case in January '08 that we could all see who else was bidding on gloves on eBay? So much community came out of that one by-gone aspect of glove collecting. I formed friendships bantering back and forth with other bidders on wins and losses. I always enjoyed seeing other familiar IDS come up and the e-mails would flow.
"Are you kidding me; Do you really need still another Joff Cross?". "Did you see that incredible D&M buckleback that just appeared?" All that kind of stuff. On and on it would go. I sometimes wonder who's winning some of the gloves coming down the Pike these days. What do new collectors do to find out who else is in the game? I'm just glad I caught that part of it before it was modified away (for our own safety?, I guess...).

And to all of you great collectors out there; May 2009 be the best year ever! :D

Mike

Mike, great post! I totally agree - I miss seeing who ended up with gloves I was watching/bidding on. Sometimes I can figure it out based on the feedback and letters but that's only if it was my dad that was bidding. :)

So all you guys who said you didn't like posting your eBay wins please share in 2009!
