As I am new to glove collecting, could someone explain the Wilson numbering system for the shooting star models--is there a difference in quality betweena a2000 and an a2001--or any of the other personal model/shooting stars gloves--there seem to be a lot of diiferent models that look very similar--

I believe that the quality of the gloves is the same. The A2001 is a slightly smaller glove. The Hall of Fame used to have on display the glove used by the late Bob Allison of the Minn. Twins in the 1965 World Series and it was an A2001. I always wondered about that because Allison was a big guy (6'4, 220) and I assumed that he probably had big hands. Maybe back in those days some players just put a glove on their hand and, if it felt good, used it without worrying about a slight size difference. Vernon Law, another big guy, at one time used a TG 15 rather than the slightly bigger TG 12. Whatever works!

Nelson Fox, a Wilson endorser, supposedly encouraged Wilson to make a smaller version of the A2000 which became the A2001. Nellie was a second baseman and needed a glove he could get a quick release from.
When later he was coaching the Astros, a young second sacker came up to Houston by name of Joe Morgan. Nellie told Joe to get a smaller glove and Joe used a tiny glove. I've seen the glove. A fellow collector had one of Joe's for awhile.
Nelson's inspiration led to the 2001 development though so I understand.
