here a link to the original discussion about this glove - I think this adequately describes the situation:
http://www.vintagebaseballgloveforum.co ... escent+pad

the seller is a forum member as well - I suggest contacting them via eBay if you have questions regarding the item.

I thought this was supposed to be an informative discussion board?? I'm asking for information before i fork out 5 bills...i dont care if the seller is a member...The link you gave Bret did not tell me squat....I'm not trying to stir up trouble here. But dont treat this board like a broken off sector of Russia...Information is power....dont supress it !! I did ask the seller BTW....NO ANSWER !! go figure.....

Boy, so much for trying to be helpful. I'm not sure what the other post didn't tell you - a glove was bought, the seller was unhappy with it and wanted to return it, the seller did not answer emails, etc. we can deduce that the glove was returned because it is for sale again. I would think the seller's eBay feedback would tell you what you need to know.

point taken

I'm not a child and i dont need you suggesting me to contact the seller. Thats a given ! My reason for this post was to make sure someone from here did not get shafted again. I was ready to hit the "Buy it now" until i read the sellers feedback. One more thing, You should have contacted me before you locked my previous posts. AGAIN i contacted the seller who is a forum member and i can forward to you all the B.S. he sent to me VIA EBAY. There are new collectors out here that read this forum and after reading the description of that ButterBall turkey that was for sale, It wouldnt have been fair if some uninformed person bought that piece of junk. SO, With that being said, DEAD BEATEN, glued overdone, Whatever....Suppressing information being your forum or not is not right!
I think if people did not like certiain things being said in books Brett, You wouldn't have a job Eh? Think about it. If there is no profanity or anyone getting hurt.....Let it ride. Otherwise you've created a world suited for yourself and if thats the case then i'm outa here......

I would not want someone to get ripped off either - that is why I posted the original discussion in response to your first post. I'm not really sure how we've arrived at this point, as that was the only intention of that post. You've decided to make this thread a personal vendetta against me and you are more than welcome to post however you feel about - I won't delete those, don't worry.

Also, your opinions about my moderating are valid and you are entitled to them. If you feel as though I'm trying to surpress information, I can tell you that is not the case. I am trying to keep things civil. There are many readers who are turned off by constant bickering and he said/she said arguments.

I agree that it is important to educate sellers about items. However, like I stated before, this needs to be done in a factual and civil manner. Contacting the seller first to ask questions should be the first step. Are you always going to receive an answer? No. Are they always going to be honest with you? No. If you are still looking for information, and this forum is a place where you seek it, the first step I would take would be to use the search function. This may or may not yield the answers they are looking for. If you are still turning up nothing, posting a question is absolutely fine. However, saying that you don't like the way item looks because of the way it was conditioned or the laces someone used or something like that is not helpful. Pictures don't always tell the true story as the item that was originally brought up in this topic can attest to.

I'm sure you still disagree with me and that is completely fine - you can't please everyone all of the time, or in my case here lately, any of the time. :D

Wow, that escalated faster than a wildfire in the California hills! I believe this has been (and will continue to be) a forum of unedited open communication. Here's mine ... that seemed to get accusatory too quickly. I personally thought there was enough detail in the provided thread to throw up enough warning flags to potentially not proceed with a buy-it-now until questions had been answered by the seller. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if someone pulled the trigger at $500 for a crescent fielders whose biggest flaw appears to be its size. I know I was tempted.

Let's see. The seller states that the glove is about 7 1/2" x 7 1/4" . It looks wider than it is tall so it must be about 7 1/4 " tall. I would sit down a draw a 7" x 7" square on a piece of paper and lay hand on top of it just to remind myself of how small that size is. I've been down this road with a different old crescent padded fielders glove. It was my first one and I have an x large hand. In that it was white and cleaned up nicely, it displayed very well. Still, I no longer own the glove. It screamed for the need for an upgrade from the day I received it. I suspect that this one would display well and also urge an upgrade. As far as putting it on is concerned, it's probably not gonna happen. It's very subjective. Display...OK; Wear...forget about it. Brett... I think that the link you posted was helpful.

the way i see it, VB has the right to run this forum as he sees fit. i get the impression that he is a fair and impartial moderator that is in the end looking out for the interests of each person on the forum. the only time that i see him censoring any thread is when a person who is a member of the forum or not, is being slandered, attacked or made fun of. i'm willing to bet that he (VB) has excellent classroom management skills.

those who are oppose to dah fuhrer (haha) and his edict, can feel free to start their own baseball glove forum (i suspect it won't be as popular)

let's get back to glove buying/selling/trading boys

Spedrunr, I suspect your Brown nose is not from sniffing gloves. But it is true that Mr God Bret can do what he pleases. I was still upset at the fact that the most common response here is "To contact the seller" The link VB did provide was helpful. I still wanted more information though. I was also miffed at my Exxon Valdez thread being locked. There is a double standard and certain members are protected from being outed than from others. If there is no profanitiy or threatining, then i say let the thread ride. The Exxon guy who BTW has a couple of names here was diggin this huge hole with lie after lie. Yet, he was protected for some reason. His NoKona Oil Slick glove was another work of art, according to himself. But we must becareful not to offend eachother or our threads get locked. God forbid Mr. Lin Griffin himself would post here. He would probably get the red carpet treatment. I'm Done.....later
