I found an old splitfinger on ebay that described it as cowhide. After a couple of vasoline cleanings the glove clearly said horsehide lyn lary #80, but I can't make out the makers mark and can't find a value or other information! anything would be great

this is my first glove that i bought to collect but i bought it to take to the ballgame to catch balls with. it wouldn't matter if it was valuable i would still go to the games with it. i guess this is my first glove and also the one i caught the bug from

Two Lyn Lary gloves pop-up in "The Player Autograph Baseball Glove Finder". One is a Gambles and one is a Folsom brand.

Both gloves are listed as "located", which means that while there is not actual catalog data available from these manufacturers, these two models have been found and documented.

There is nothing in the catalog data for Gambles other than the notes that these gloves were made by Denkert and were often branded as Gambles Hiawatha. Some of the gloves I've seen with this brand name have had an Indian chief somewhere in the logo.

There is catalog data for one year of gloves from Folsom- 1920, well before Lary was a player. Those fielder gloves all have a model number beginning with the letter "G", then three digits beginning with the number "2" (201, 202, 203, etc.).

Maybe somewhere in that info is something that can help you identify the maker of your glove!

Lary-endorsed gloves are listed as "very rare", but I suppose not being a star player holds down the value. Book prices are $35/$55/$115 for "Very Good/Excellent/Near Mint" conditions.

this is my first vintage baseball glove and i intend to use it. thanks for the info, i noticed that the glove has a circle and a triangle inside of the circle. it says athletic goods around the bottom of the circle and is missing the pocket laces but is in o.k. condition. i can't make out the wording on the top half of the circle

I can't see enough in those photos to make a positive I.D. on the maker. Perhaps someone will see this who has owned one of these and can tell you what it is.

I do like the unusual arrangement of the seams running across the back knuckles. That is an odd feature and I don't believe I've ever seen a glove exactly like that.

See the attached photo of a different glove, this one bearing the Folsom trademark and logo.

The stampings and logo are virtually identical in every aspect with the lone exception of the "Gambles" and "Folsom" name being flip-flopped.

There obviously must have been some connection between the two brands.

the signature is dead on but the makers mark is diffrent. i laced the finger and thumb on it and took it to the Royals (shameless plug) game on tuesday and almost got a foul ball in the 1st. alot of people were asking about the glove and i passed it around several times. i had a great time with the glove at the game and talked to some cool people and thats what it's all about for me. can't wait to take it to the park again soon!
