Does anyone have any idea on pricing for a Wilson Model A2220, Fred Lynn Professional Model, VG to EX condition? I want to say this is a 12" to 13" glove, probably closer to 13". I have had this in my inventory of gloves for over a year. I was looking for a better glove for one of the players on my 9-year old team and I stumbled across this absolutely beautiful glove that I had completely forgotten about. I don't have any plans on selling this one, but I was curious as to it's value. It has the same crossover web bridge lacing as the A2000, but instead of having a dual hinged web, it has like a 3 or 4 hinged web! I'm assuming that the A2220 designation maybe puts it in the A2000 family of gloves. It was made in Taiwan. If anyone would like to see pix, let me know. The glove still has the original laces on it from when I bought it (although I can't remember when I bought it or how much I paid for it! lol), and I'm planning on re-lacing it, maybe after the baseball season for my niners is over. Obviously, since Fred Lynn (Red Sox) played in the mid 70's, this glove is at least 20 to 30 years old, but it's in really nice condition. Any help that any of you guys can give me would be most appreciated. Also, I know someone mentioned a glove pricing guide on this forum. How current is that guide, and about how much does it cost? I had the pocket guide (misplaced it), but that was very limited in scope and information. I sure would like to get something more up to date and comprehensive.

I feel the same way about my Wilson A2124 Fred Lynn where Wilson brought back their famous A2000 original shooting star design. Very well constructed glove, center cross hinge web. Very top quality, made in Japan. How does your's compare with this one? A favorite of mine and probably not a better Lynn

My glove might be bigger than the one you've got, but yours looks like it has hardly been used. Mine has had a little wear, not much, but it certainly doesn't look nearly as new as yours. I had bought an A2124 George Brett a couple of years ago that I ended up giving to my son-in-law so he could play catch with my grandson. That was an absolutely beautiful glove, excellent quality leather, well put together. I hated giving that one up, but it's family, you know. I will try to get some pictures of my A2220 up tonight or tomorrow. That glove is never leaving my house, period. lol

I'm not sure this Lynn has taken a toss. It shows up new in the Glove Catalog Source Book for 1977 and list priced at $44.00 while the A2000 of that year were going for $71. The Catfish Hunter A2005 was at $51.50 and the only glove model value in between the A2124 and the A2s.
They maybe a little later put Brett's name on this model. But I'm like you,
this one's not leaving the premises.

That glove is a beauty. It's nice to see such quality. Today's gloves are very nice, unique in their own right, but nothing compares to some of the older models. I especially like the Made in U.S.A. gloves. I think it's a damn shame that almost all of the gloves used in "America's Past Time" are made outside of the United States.

That was the A2124?? Prior to George Brett's endorsement? I have the A2124 George Brett *pics in the glove pics section* and it is my favorite glove ... I used the heck out of it back in the day and have had it relaced, and the leather is still just awesome ...

So, is there an A2124 with Brett's endorsement with the shooting star on it?

I'm not sure about the shooting star, I will have to check that out with my son-in-law and get back to you, but it most definitely is an A2124.

Oh, I was exclaiming about the A2124 Fred Lynn pictured above. It has the Pro Model Shooting Star logo on it, and like most Shooting Stars I have seen, it looks like a really good, quality glove (comparable to a Gold Glove or HOH Rawlings, maybe, but that is a topic for another thread). The A2124 that I have is the George Brett model with the basket web and closed back that is quite reminiscent of the Rawlings RBG36 Fastback styles.

So I consulted The Source.

The Fred Lynn A2124 Pro Model pictured above seems to have first appeared in 1977 with a "New" designation in the Wilson lineup ($44).
It appears in 1978 (still with the "New" designation - what is that about?) for $49.50. In 1979 the Fred Lynn Pro Model - New was an A2220.

The A2124 next appears in The Source in the 1990 Wilson catalog with the George Brett endorsement. That is my glove, pictured immediately above. (I bought my glove in the latter part of the 80's, I believe, certainly earlier than 1990, but there are some missing catalog years between 1983 and 1990 in the Catalog Source Book. I don't remember exactly when I bought my glove; like most young men in their 20's, I thought time was virtually endless, and thus irrelevant, and I was not enough aware of a sense of personal history to mark significant events like glove purchases on my permanent calendar. )

A couple of questions:

1. When did Wilson stop using the "Pro Model - Shooting Star" label? I got a $5 ebay bargain not long ago that surprisingly had the Pro Model - Shooting Star label, a model W015, non-endorsed. It looks rough but feels fantastic, with great leather. I wonder when it was made ...

2. When did the Shooting Star label finally flame out?

I would have guessed around 1964 when the Circle R started replacing the rectangular tag. But...it was in 1967 when the Outline W "The A2000" superimposed took place according to the catalogs of that time.
(The circle around the W came out in 1968)
When did the "star" flame out?" I'm guessing not until these 2124 and other models quit using them I would say. Funny how Wilson revived it
