This should be another enjoyable post because I know a lot of guys and gals like to get your gloves signed by players. I've done this in person about a dozen times and have some more that I sent off or had another person get the signature on the glove for me.

Andy Seminick tried to get his hand in the little Denkert Seminick store mitt and said, "it doesn't even fit." Robin Roberts, who was signing down the line, yelled out, "The glove doesn't fit! The glove doesn't fit!" laughing all the time because this was just after the O.J. trial.

These are a few but I know glovers out there have similar tales and what pleasure it is to get them to talk about their gloves in person.
Share a few memories here for up close and personal glove encounters with your favorite players.

Personally, I don't like autographed gloves. For some reason, the signatures always look blurry or bleed, and that ruins the appearance of the glove for me. I do have one autographed glove - an Andy Seminick that I got from another collector - he tried to sign it a couple different times with silver marker.

I do remember waiting in line with my dad a bunch of years ago so he could get Bill Mazeroski's autograph on a MacGregor personal model. I think that is the only signed glove he has as well.

Back in the 90's I got a whole bunch of gloves signed. Some in person and some by sending to a card convention. The most interesting: Joe DiMaggio, two times in person (Houston and Freehold,NJ) and one through a friend in Chicago. Two times the promoter saw the gloves and would not allow even a try (Hstn and Chi) but in Freehold, Joe D got a big kick out of two non-endorsed 1930's glove. I still have the two $60 auto tickets from Chicago's failed try. Too bad I still don't have those two signed gloves from Freehold.

From about 1993-8, I sent over 50 letters with gloves to many of the non-HOF players from the 50s (eg, Landis, Sain, Lumpe, Conley, guys like this), and most of them responded by signing the glove and sending it back, sometimes with a note of the type of glove they used. It was really a lot of fun for me waiting for the glove to return. Not one player ever failed to return the glove to me and most signed for free. I still have all these gloves and could sell for my '90s cost if anyone has a favorite player, and they'd like their autographed glove. Email me anytime at swalt1234@aol.com

Dad took this glove to a reunion of most of the living women who participated in the AAGPBL to have it signed...He said one of the ladies got teary eyed when she put the glove on her hand but he said most of them started smacking there hand in the pocket like they were ready to play....One of the signatures faded on the front but the rest are still great and most of the women wrote the years they played....

Now, let me tell you about one of the odd ball signed gloves I got and I purchased off eBay from England where the fellow selling the glove had gotten the movie cast of "the Memphis Belle" (air corps film about the famous plane off WWII) signed his Ozzie Smith glove, included D. B. Sweeney, who played Joe Jackson in the "Eight Men Out" movie, Billy Zane, Harry Conneck Jr. etc. It's sort of combines both my interest of baseball and movies.
