Asking for help
Posted: December 12th, 2007, 9:39 amThanks to a post from Jimmy on the Mantle glove thread, I'd like to ask here a little survey regarding our glove pocket price guide. We made slight alterations on Guide #8 by lowering some common and common and less conditions prices and raising some near mint and rare gloves.
Here's Jim's post: "I do have a suggestion for Joe's price guide, though. Why not send out a questionier to all newsletter subscribers once a year (or whenever the guide will be updated) so collectors can have fractional input to changes? A few pages including a list of gloves/endorsers where we could write in up or down arrows, percentage changes or actual values. Then, a write in section for gloves that aren't included on the list. Finally, some questions to measure the tone of collectors such as; How much of a premium do you place on mint gloves or picture boxes?
I think collectors would not only welcome this, but actually enjoy it. Joe, on the other hand, might not as he'd have to compile the data. It's not as good as following the actual market, but I think sampling the market via a survey like this would make for a much more accurate guide."
I would like to open ideas, opinions to anyone on this glove site regarding pricing or any other subjects used in the guide. Also, while I had kept a recording of new glove names i.e. Herb Pennock, Fred Toney, Jimmy Austin, my little guide I was putting them in has disappeared somewhere. I would like to receive new glove names discovered for the next glove guide edition.
