My Rawlings gloves

In chronological order of acquiring:
My TG12, which I got in 1960 and used until mid 1980s. I had the inside palm partially repaired by a guy who added a new piece of leather over it; made note to self to also oil that part on all future gloves, never had on this one. I added the double stiching of the fingers after a line drive (I play third base) broke the single lacing and hit me in the forehead (shortstop caught it, so the batter was still out). Decided to retire this as rare glove, later saw one brand new in Rawlings trailer museum.




My PRO3 wing tip, which was my replacement for the TG12 in early 1980s, when I couldn't find a Trapeze style




Unknown HOH model I bought used for $15 when I was coaching LL baseball, soon became my daughter's glove; when I first got it, you could see the HOH emblem. Of course, I paid $75 later to have a new partial palm installed for her and the repair patch approximately where one might put the index finger.




Tan PRO24BT bought for myself (not made in USA), all broken in now; note small tear (repaired by glue gun on inside between index and middle finger.




Daughter said PRO24TB too large and heavy for her, bought this used Made in USA PRO-T which she still uses




In period of nostalgia, bought PRO12TC for myself, about 75% broken in.

It looks like you have an extra set of image tags at the beginning and end of photo.

On some photo storage web sites, when you copy the address of the photo, it automatically puts the "IMG" an "/IMG" tags at the beginning and end.

Then, if you add another set when you post, it doesn't display right.

For example, I took one of your links and pasted it here, making sure to have only one set of image tags:

BretMan - I don't get it. I can see your posted photo, though. Mine have [img] at the beginning and [/img] at the end. I'm able to post on a Volkswagen and Mazda board from that upload site without any issues. Are you able to see your photo when you hit "preview"? I couldn't even when I "quoted" yours and hit preview, and on other sites I do see my photos. Maybe I'm an idiot savant, or at least have the idiot part down pat.

The problem was you had checked the box "Disable BBCode in this post" - the BBCode has to be one for the IMG tags to work. All set now.

However, I do know what "Notify me when a reply is posted" means.

And if anyone is experienced in fixing up that TG12, like fixing my own sewing and replacing the inner palm liner, please contact me.

No more rip between index and third finger.


New inside liner and leather, new piping, new lacing, new patch, new thumb strap, home-made sewing repair on back now repaired correctly.

Kenny is the man. He is working on my glove right now and today I was on the phone with him for an hour just shooting the breeze. He's is super nice and I think all of us should send our friends in need of glove repair to him. Still, I am working on forgiving him for being a Cardinals fan.

KJ rocks, no doubt. But dude, I grew up in Boston (the Impossible Dream of 1967) and now live 4 blocks from Wrigley (pick a year) and so I know all about the Cardinals and I have to say someone from Brooklyn shouldn't be dissing any red bird fans.

I lived right down the road from Wrigley Field back in the late 70's, about a mile away in fact. Right at the split of Clark and Addison, our address was 1504 W. Victoria. I used to walk to the bus stop at the end of our street, and take the bus to the front gate of Wrigley Field. Literally, off the bus and into the entrance in about 10 or 12 steps. What a terrific place to watch a ballgame, and there were always good seats available, no matter how late you went to the game. The only place better to watch a ball game is Fenway Park, but try getting tickets there, it's virtually impossible. Even if you could get a ticket, you'd need to re-finance your house to pay for the tickets, the parking and the food. Ahhhhh, Chicago. Gulliver's Pizza, Lowry's Prime Rib Restaurant, Lake Shore Drive, Old Style Beer, the Chicago Sun Times, the Loop, the Sears Tower, Lake effect snowstorms, the city that never sleeps. Great, great, G-R-E-A-T city to live in, as long as you don't mind the traffic. I sure don't miss the Friday afternoon traffic jams on the expressway that started at 2:00pm, but I sure do miss everything else about Chicago, 2 1/2 years that I will always fondly remember. Go Cubbies!!! lol

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world. Big city with a small town feel. Great place to raise a family (my son is on a first name basis with many of the Cubs' players because they live in the neighborhood).

If it weren't for the weather (which is just horrible), 15 Million people would live here (making the traffic even worse).

But...your memories of Wrigley are a little dated. It isn't an easy ticket anymore. Still a great place to watch a game (better than Fenway in my estimation because the seats aren't as cramped, they all face the field and most don't have obstructions) and have a few cold ones, but not something you can do on an impulse unless you want to pay big $$$ to a ticket broker. And season tickets? I'm on the waiting list - maybe I'll get some before I die.

Yes, my memories are certainly as dated as I am. lol Back in those days, the Cubs were awful, simply awful. Every single day game (lights would come much later) was televised and you could listen to Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreau call the play by play on TV and Radio. Both of those guys were the closest things to human sleeping pills that I have ever heard. I was at one game with some out of town visitors when the Cubs were playing the Phillies and Mike Schmidt hit two out for the Phils that day. Tremendous moon shot bombs that went completely out of the park, one to right field and one to left field. We sat just past the first base bag in the front row. The Old Style was flowing freely and it was a terrific day for baseball. Of course the Cubbies got waxed, as they usually did back then. Still a terrific experience. It's nice to see them competitive again, that's great for the North Siders. I never saw a White Sox game while I lived there, but I used to love to hear Harry Caray and Jimmy Pearsall call games on the TV. The White Sox really sucked back then too, but listening to Harry and Jimmy was worth watching that lousy team play. Those two guys were uproariously funny, and Jimmy would mercilessly bash the ChiSox. I really would like to go back and visit the city, it would be a nice place to spend a vacation week or two. Maybe next year. Hey, isn't that what Cubs fans always used to say? lol Bleacher Bums rule!
