Genuine horse hide

It's been quite awhile since I took a chance on a glove that looked this problematic. I usually do the smart thing and pass on them. I've had some luck cleaning horse hide gloves in the past, but there are no guarantees on the condition of the leather under all the grime. And the chewed up wrist strap was another minus. Crazy that the tag still looked good.




But I got lucky in that the leather was still decent and supple. Hard to see in the photos, but there are two extra eyelets on the thumb to cinch the laces. The tunnel web is unusual for D&M in 1930. Seems like they stayed with vertical tunnels and grommet webs longer than the other glove makers. Not a TOTL but a well made glove. D&M offered this model for a few years, but it only had the Al Simmons signature in 1930.
