Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

Hello all,
As some of you know, I've been working on a vintage baseball research project for the better part of this year. This is something I've wanted to do for over a decade, since 1997 to be exact. When the opportunity arose late last winter, I had to jump on it. Over the coming weeks and months I will be continually unveiling new, and for the most part, largely unseen glimpses into the early evolution of vintage baseball equipment. For the time being, my focus has been exclusively on Gloves and Base Balls, however the possibility of expanding the collection exists. It has been a very exciting journey and I'm proud to be able to share it with you now. If you have a chance, please check it out. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Great looking site William! I was lucky enough to get to see some of the gloves and balls in Boston a few weeks ago. The care and craftsmanship put into each piece is amazing! Even the boxes that hold the balls are works of art! Way to follow a dream!!!

I concur - I've had the opportunity to see these up close and personal a couple of times and they are fantastic. The attention to detail is superior.

I struggled over this very question for months. In the end, rather than trying to define it, I embraced it. How to balance between the two was ultimately how I came up with the packaging and website direction. I really like the play of vintage vs modern.

The items themselves are simultaneously vintage and modern. Vintage patterns, modern craft. They aren't modern gloves, but the gloves themselves are not old. Vintage or modern, or, both simultaneously. It's a fun question to ponder.

They're like modern time capsules. Typically when someone approaches a research topic like this it ends up on paper, either in a report or in larger form as a book. The words or images are what transport you back. For me, this collection was the best way to show the results. My work in the past has been as a designer of tangible goods. So, the idea that you can hold and feel the history behind something was very important to me.
