IN DIRE NEED OF SPALDING SOFTBALL GLOVE!

Postby cateye88 » September 18th, 2010, 12:56 am

Hello all, just found this board! I have been playing with this particular glove for over 30 years so needless to say it is on it's last lace! It is a spalding 42-201 it says softball on it, the web says over size web, it has the word supreme in large script letters on the heel and says competition somewhere on the palm. I would give anything to find the same glove broken in. Is there someone out there that can look this up in some catalog so that maybe I can find something comparable. I am an old lady of 53 playing again on a (kills me to say) senior league!

I could not possible bare to play with anything else, its like an extension of my hand. You guys know what I mean. I got in touch with Kenny about reconditioning but well $150 bucks then its new again, but I dont want it new again! It's just getting pretty hard to hold on to anymore, there is absolutely nothing left of the lining, nothing left to hold my fingers, no thumb strap, no pinky loop, heel lining is literally sticking out, but I refuse to stop playing with it! OK have I made everybody feel sorry for me? Enough to find me another one! Somebody out there has to be able to help, please

Hi Cathy,
Wow! you are a serious player. I hope you can find one. Below is a link to a glove that may be like the one your after. Mike Wakefield may be your man for tracking this puppy down. He is on this thread often so let's see if he might be able to assist you.
Good luck.

Dave, thanks for responding. Well at least I saw a glove with the right model number, but the one I seek is an oversize softball glove, looks nothing like the one in the link. Can anyone else help. Mike where are you?

Here is the link to Mike's website with his email address. We absolutely love baseball gloves on this forum, but most of us collect earlier gloves, so I'm not sure how much help you'll be able to get here. Have you tried searching eBay? Rawlings made Spalding's top of the line gloves thru the 1960's, but I have no idea if that included softball gloves. Might be worth a try to check out used Rawlings softball gloves on eBay just in case they made a similar model. Hope you find it!

Hi Cathy,
Don't know if you're still looking but there's a Spalding Competition S softball glove on eBay now, auction ends Sunday Oct 17. It's a 42-211 but might be worth taking a look.
