Where did you get your gloves?

Postby Hrking4675 » January 4th, 2009, 6:49 pm

I was just curious where everyone who has their USA HOH's in their home safe deposit boxes, away from their wives/ girlfriends, picked them up back in the day. Have most of us bought them via Ebay or have people bought them from Eastbay, Sporting Goods Stores, or wherever else? How much did you pay, if you remember.

Personally, most of my gloves came from Ebay since I was only 12 by the time I really started to collect in 2000, stores did not really carry USA's anymore.

I have gotten two gloves from members of the forum, the two I recently posted in the Conditioning section.

My prize as a kid was bought in a sports shop in Westchester, Miami, Florida. I remember my mom paid half and I forked over $40 of lawn mowing money to buy a HOH Pro 7. I had Kenny fix it up, new liner and laces. Here it is:

I bought my HOH's, a Pro 1000H and Pro 1000BF new at Sportmart in N.W. In. and Lansing Sporting Goods just south of Chicago. $139 each.
My Mizuno MWV-600 was also bought new at Lansing Sporting Goods for the sum of $169. These prices are from 1990-1992.
Most of my older gloves were purchased when I was a teen(early 70's), from small local "old time" shops no longer around. However I have bought some 50's Nokona's and Rawlings PM 3-finger from The Vintage Baseball Glove Store and Sports Artifacts. Also a couple from forum members....and yes, Ebay.

Probably more info than needed....sorry, its a neat topic.

I got my TG-12 brand-new in fall 1960 from my dad ($39.99 retail), my PRO-3 about 1982 at a west Phoenix sporting goods store, think it was left over from previous year (about $75), my used black HOH trapeze (model number not legible) from Play it Again Sports in late 1990s for $15. My tan PRO-24 and my tan PRO12TC are from Mortons, about $140 each(Philippines-made). My daughters PRO-T (made in USA) came off Ebay about 2005, about $85 without snipe software, maybe because a previous owner wrote his name in four places (got most of that ink off). Photos of all those are in the Glove Pictures section.

I got my Rawlings Pro-TF B at the Rawlings Glove Outlet in Reading, PA in 1986 or 1987. It is the only HOH that I have. It was my gamer for almost twenty years. You can't beat that. :D
