It seems that Louisville Slugger is the first company to try and capitalize on the mesh-back crazed.

Why not? It's cheaper than leather and costs less but they can sell it at premium price...

Isn't that similar to the Roger Clemens glove a couple years back?

Yuck!

No go on the mesh back. I need an all leather glove---preferably Horween!

In little league, we used to tease the kids with the Mesh backed gloves from Mizuno. They were poop brown. Huh-huh, poop.

Just remember....man-made leathers, although sacreligous to many are generally lighter and more durable.

I for one am very grateful that my Vaughn Velocity 7500 goal pads and gloves little to no genuine leather. That saves me about 4-5 lbs. for the whole set.

The old mesh backed gloves (MAG soft comes to mind) were brutal, but I think in the next few years, they will be reliable enough to play with.

But am I buying one right now? No.

I will wait and see.

I know Mizuno also made some top quality MLB issue mesh backs back in the 80s. Another vote for All Leather

I'll add my vote for all leather. I'm sure the mesh-backed technology and workmanship has improved since the 1980s, as designers have become more familiar with synthetics, but I'm a traditionalist. Seeing that mesh-backed glove replace the 6-HF on ARod's hand didn't make me happy.

I can forgive that. The TPX and the Arod are nice looking gloves. I think the mesh-backed TPX is one of the nicer looking TPX gloves out there.

Hey Fuzzy, let me know if you end up ordering it and what you think about it. I've wanted to add a mesh back to my collection. I kinda like the way it looks and it'd be my only mesh back glove. Plus I hate heavy infield gloves, so it could end up being a good game glove for me.

I had a Mizuno mesh back Black Magic from the 80's. Very comfortable and light but got way too flimsy over time.
