Where to Buy Tanners laces

I cannot find anywhere who has Tanners laces in stock anywhere. Any ideas?

My local sporting goods store no longer carries "Heart of the Hide" laces....itstead the package looks exactly the same, except it says "Tanners Baseball" instead of HoH.

I just order them directly from Tanner's. You have to buy them in bundles of 25, but they will sell directly to you. There are also other Forum members that might want to join in with you on a purchase if 25 pc bundles are too much.

One 48" standard width lace costs $2.99 at the local sporting goods store.

If you go to www.tanners.com, they have a 10 page catalog in PDF format that you can check out. On the last page, it lists widths, lengths, colors, and bundle sizes. I have the price list if you want a copy of it. I can either fax it to you today from work, or I can scan it into my home computer and email it to you tonight from there. If there's a particular color, width, length that you're looking for, I can probably tell you via the forum here. The other option is to have them send you a catalog, and ask them to include rawhide lace pricing. They only offer 3/16" and 1/4" widths of rawhide lacing. I usually use 3/16" for most of the modern gloves that I re-lace, but I've found that it's too thick for older, vintage gloves. Hope that this helps.

Here's a quick synopsis:

3/16" x 72" x 25 piece bundle (Tan, Black or Chocolate) is $34.75 plus shipping & handling per bundle. This figures out to be $1.39 per 72" piece or $.2317 per foot. If you're paying $2.99 per piece for a 48" piece, that's almost $.75 per foot, more than triple what you would pay for the same rawhide purchased direct from Tanner's. You would have to add s/h charges to that number as well. The only downside with Tanner's is, that you have to buy in bundles of 25 pieces for most of their basic rawhide. For people like me that use all of that and more, it's not a problem. However, if you don't want that much rawhide, I'm sure that there are others (like me) on the forum that would go halves with you to help you minimize your cost.

When I first began ordering from Tanners 5 or 6 years ago, I indicated I was in the business of repairing and relacing gloves as I was working on a few gloves each week.

Tanners sends me their new catalog every summer.
