This glove is an example of a very rare cordovan leather provided to Rawlings. it appears to be saturated with oils. This leather if you turn the glove inside out will appear to be same. The model Pro1000-3BFOT was made in very limited quanties. Both Rawlings and Skip Horween can attest to the quality of the Horween cordovan leather properties. The leather has a very smooth finish and may be the most desirable of Horween leather provided to Rawlings for this model. The Horween cordovan leather is very costly to produce according to Skip Horween, it is now reservered for more costly order's. Another way to secure your pre-mature thoughts is to make an attempt to purchase this hide from Horween. Rawlings discontinued the use of this leather because it was to costly to produce, this same model number was later produced in another Horween hide and had a different heel configuration with an American Flag instead of the traditional Rawlings rectangle tag. The glove in question is NOT over oiled or saturated. Nokona has also secured a simular hide according to Elvin "Ab" Lemons, a 50 year Nokona employee. Bob Storey of Nokona will continue to use these leathers, another hide that will look over oiled is the walnut leather, a little mink oil or any lextrol product and you'll have another Exxon glove to prepare interesting statements for. I hope the glove comes back up for a listing with EBay, it's true vavue should run between $300 to $500 USD. IF you will complete a full search, look for this model in Horween cordovan leather as the model in question, I dout you'll find more than 7 produced in it's manufacturing and sold to the public. Pro1000-3 BFT is also a rare find, it came in black with a tan web and tan laces, also a good quality horween leather. Now we may understand a little bit more about dark cordovan horween hides.
