Perhaps this has something to do with the friable state of the leather. Sometimes, less is more.

I bet the inner palm is checked like mad too. Last Gamer PP i bought was in bad shape for a glove that was relatively new

I have yet to see a PP age gracefully.

A good friend of mine owns a couple of PIAS stores. From time to time we meet up at the store on our way to golf, hockey, beer. I'll check his used glove bin and often find a Rawlings PP mixed in with the vinyl coopers and franklins. The PP's are always in rough shape. Limp leather, trashed pockets, nasty palms. To me, they seem like a high end disposable glove. I've never owned one and don't see them much in stores anymore. I would suspect maybe that Kip leather requires different care. If you condition it like a horween or steerhide glove, it could have adverse effects.

Only ONE PP have I ever seen that was broken in that did not have one or two lumps in the palm (from that goo stuff inside the glove), and very rough and thin palm lining. That one had a major repair to the top of the thumb, so it wasn't in primo shape either.

Those gloves look and feel great when new, but I guess, like with all other gloves, most people have little clue of how to take care of them.

But, unlike a couple of posters, I am loathe to say that these are crappy gloves, but perhaps they are exercises in planned obsolesence.

Has anyone seen either of these in a store yet? I wonder if Rawlings realized nobody knew how/ had anything to take care of these gloves.

I got a 4 oz bottle of the PP glove lotion with my Docglov special Eastbay Gloves. Reading the instructions on the lable makes me never want to put this on my gloves (albeit my Eastbay gloves are Horween hides and not kip). It sounds like if I don't apply this stuff on my glove regulary, the glove will look awful and dry out...

Instruction on the old heart of the hide mitts was clear. Instructions on the PP glove lotion lend itself to people never using it or OVER using it.

Do these gloves tendency towards a shoddy appearance over time have to do with the care of the leather, or the fact that the color is painted on?

I was about to ask a question. My pro preferred glove is one of the first generations (all camel) is in need of a good oil. I might get that rawlings specific pro preferred oil but I need some feed back oh how it resulted on kip leather. Anyone ever try anything else on kip (camel colored) and what were the results. Any discolorations?

I use Lexol NF frequently on a black pro preferred with excellent results. i would use that on a camel one though I can't speak on actual results ...
