Hi all .. This is my first post to the Forum, I'm really glad to have found this site. I was doing research on my glove so that I could do a little video post about it. I thought I'd share it with you:

http://baseballisms.com/rick-monday-mod ... glove.html

I'm bummed that I forgot to mention that my glove is a right handed glove, when Rick Monday is a lefty! Wonder if they ever considered that when making the gloves.

I am also going to get my dad on a video to talk about his Wilson George Kell model glove that's sitting on my bookshelf.

I'll post that as soon as I get it completed.

Cool!

Joe, That's awesome!

I have very similar recollections from my youth. In the "minors" I played for the Phillies, but when I graduated to the "majors" (Bennett Motor Sales was my team), I saved up and bought the very same Rick Monday Spalding model. It was my first real glove and I treasured like nothing before or since. Sadly, It was stolen when I was 14 and I still carry the devastation with me. I owned a few different gloves through college, but no other glove was as treasured as my Rick Monday model. After college, I bought a Rawlings Pro T which finally allowed me to forget about Rick Monday.

As a footnote, I recently bought a lot of beater gloves on eBay. In the lot was an old Rick Monday Spalding. It was more worn, but just as I remembered it. I feel like it was my old friend returning home...

LemonBall .. thanks for sharing that! Isn't the web and all these types of sites an amazing thing that we can share stories and memories like this!?!

Hate that it was stolen from you .. but love that you were able to procure a new one! Is it a righty version? Not sure if they ever made a lefty model or not.

Question for you though. Mine has (had) a small thread emblem on the strap above the thumb. I can't make out what it said any more - I think it said something like "American" with other text around it. Does your new one still have the emblem intact?

I've posted a flikr photo so you can see what I mean;

That is the "American/National" patch that Spalding used to promote the fact that, at that time, they were the official suppliers of baseballs to the American and National leagues.

Cowboy7130 .. yeah that's right! I remember it saying both American and National in a red white and blue motif. There's other stuff around it, but just can't make it out.

Thanks for the intel.
