Some nice gloves on ebay to start the month.
A 1940's KenWel Rip Collins base mitt sold for $299. Fabulous condition and a rare model!

A unique 1940 Rawlings Lonny Frey glove sold for $375. Another one in fabulous condition and rare.

A D&M model 106 catchers mitt box sold for $449. Incredible condition for a 1905 era cardboard box. I sold my 1960's plastic car kit collection recently and very few had boxes as nice as the D&M box.

Four really interesting Mantle’s sold in the Mile High Card Company Auction. Anyone else catch those? Not sure if they have already been in the hobby. Looks like someone got a steal on a mint Mantle first base mitt for just under $400. Though admittedly I don’t collect or know about the 50’s and 60’s stuff. Two other mint with box Mantle’s hammered at big numbers. But contextually I have no clue. Would love to hear from those in the know on these!

Thanks for posting. I don't follow other auctions. That mint DCT basemitt was a steal at $397. The mint model MM with box/hang tag sold for $3388. It sports the rare black/gold patch. Pretty much the ultimate for a Mantle collector. The fact it was $1400 less than the mint XPG26 with box($4788) is a head scratcher. The model XPG26 is a midline model. The model MM auction described the glove alternately as a MM5 and a MM8 model. Maybe that confused bidders. Anyway, here they are:

A lot of vintage gloves sold this first week. Three of note from the same seller are:
An early Reach crescent pad base mitt sold for $195. Looks all there and in real nice condition.

A black Spalding sewn web glove sold for $175. Great condition.

Those Mantles were gorgeous - the DCT was definitely a steal- tough glove to find in any condition.

That black Spalding full web seemed to go really cheap - I would have guess 300 plus. Good deal for the buyer

An early catchers mitt sold for $172. I believe it to be a Western Sporting Goods model. The condition was very good but the big selling point was the olive green leather.

An OK mfg. Tommy Holmes glove sold for $129. Outstanding condition.

A R.H. Macy Max Bishop glove sold for $375. A rare model.

A Goldsmith Hans Wagner model KB glove sold for $1325. Overall, a real nice example. Only a few full web versions out there.

A weird one! An early Mizuno glove with King patent lacing, a unique web and marked "Hornsby" in the pocket. Pretty cool! It sold for $203

A Pennant Ed Rommel glove finally sold on ebay for $650. Pretty close to near mint and a rare one. Nice!

A MacGregor Goldsmith Dixie Walker model HC with box sold for $199. A mint beauty that should have sold for more. The glove is more than likely a wartime issue because it is missing the cloth patch and brass logo button.

A rare circa 1903 Stall & Dean catchers mitt sold for $1030. The first one I have seen with that patented perimeter banding.

A mint 1964 Wilson "Shooting Star" model glove with box, catalog & hang tag sold for BIN of $900. Probably could have sold for more in a 7 day auction.

An interesting glove from ebay. Did any of you check out the forefinger on this one? There is no inner seam. The web is sewn to the thumb seam and riveted and surface sewn to the forefinger. It is as if the glove was originally designed as a webless model and the manufacturer didn't change the glove pattern when updating the glove to a webbed model. I've never seen anything like it. It sold for $661 but is probably worth thousands.lol

Some affordable, interesting models and rarities to end the month. A mis-named Stall & Dean mitt sold for $40. It's in good shape.

A Nice D&M base mitt sold for $93. This one has the lacing wrapping around to the back. I owned a lefty version for a while. A top of the line model.

An early 1920's KenWel mitt sold for $86. This one has the earliest tag.

A few interesting modern era gloves to finish the month. A mint Rawlings Mickey Mantle XFB19 mitt sold for $2000. Kind of puts the $400 mint Mantle DCT mitt sold earlier into sharp focus, doesn't it?

A mid '60's Rawlings XPGP Dual Step Down Palm glove sold for $200. Looks good but dry as a bone!

A 1961 Higgins "Shooting Star" glove sold for $200. Made by Wilson. I doubt it is made from Ansonia leather of the Wilson counterpart. The Higgins glove originally sold for about half the price of the Wilson.

BTW, can you guys believe the gloves Ted Kubiak is releasing from the vault!
