A mint 1966 Wilson A2001 Shooting Star model glove sold for $1150. Same quality and leather as the A2000 but slightly smaller and with the open web. This one is a pro issue for Denis Menke. Pretty cool!

A 1964 Wilson A2001 Shooting Star glove sold for $300. Another pro issue glove used by Harry Craft. Nice!

Another Wilson "Shooting Star" model sold for $767. At least that is in the ebay listing title. Funny. I guess that was the sellers only reference point for selling that early glove. It's mint youth model.

This primitive early mitten sold with another child's mitt for $85. It was then relisted alone for $600 before being pulled. It looks to be outseam construction and possibly home made. Whoever made it knew what they were doing as it appears to be fully lined and detailed pretty well. Its only downside is the size at 7" tall. All the talk about mitts being smaller back then, blah, blah, blah. I have owned a couple of these early ones and got hammered in pricing because of the small size. This one appears to have fared much better.

A Goldsmith model FG Leo Durocher glove with box sold for $199. The glove may be a first one found. The FG stands for "Flexo Gluv-Hide". I have owned a couple of the "Flexo" models. I think they may be from the 1940's. Unfortunately, the box doesn't match the glove. The box is a MacGregor Goldsmith Leo Durocher model RL. Oh well, would have been quite the find if a match. Still, the glove is in great shape and a rare one.

A rare 1915 D&M model 8G glove box sold for $575. It's an early one and looks intact.

Strong sales of sewn web gloves on ebay so far in June. Almost any brand you can imagine. Prices range from $250-$900.

I was the buyer of this glove from Brett. Hard to believe that it is 60 years old. Paid $149.50. Happy with the glove and price.

As I have said before, buy mint.

Another great looking 1920's Wilson mitt sold for $149. It's a "League" model 540. Rare to find a mitt with decent markings like this.

A full web Spalding glove sold for $163. Overall in good condition with a lot of darkening in the palm from use. Looks to be a high quality model.

king back 1 copy.jpg

That Spalding "All Players" glove is so ugly as to be beautiful. It's a work in progress, but then again, it's been worked over so many times. Filled with asbestos padding and feathers. String and lacing around the King patent dissolved at the touch. But it will clean up nicely. Spalding label upside down but in nice shape, as is the button. At $23, might be (low-end) bargain of the week.

As I recall, this was a full seven day auction. It was buried in a category with 10,000 other listings. A very nice find. Glad you got that one. looks like you're bringing it back. There's still a ton of life left in it!!

Listed as a 1940's D&M glove, it's actually a circa 1917 G26 model with olive green leather. It is a low end model but in great condition. You can just make out Nick the dog above the Diamond logo in the palm. The D&M glove/mitts with that large mfg. logo are highly desirable among collectors. Some over the last few years were four figure sums. This one was a relative bargain I guess at $357.

I think the writing on that Goldsmith catchers mitt is really neat!
