You are very welcome Bud. I'm a firm believer in getting gloves into the collections in which they belong. Merry Christmas.

This model has been a tricky one for me. There was one that popped up on eBay years ago and I was the underbidder. No problem, I thought, another one will pop up soon enough. Well, about 12 years later one finally did. Not as nice as the original one I should have bought but still intact and has a great feel. Which is great because I plan on using it once our Little League season starts up. This is a one year model - 1961 Sonnett LS Larry Sherry. Top of the line model with some cool features.

It's not often I get to play around in this section as I only had two gloves left on my want list - til now. One down, one to go. THANK YOU ANONYMOUS SELLER!

I would guess it is a Ratsch Peerless model based on catalog illustrations of outseam gloves with the tipped fingers. Retailers Farwell Ozmun, Kirk and Butler Bros. both show such gloves.

Nine years ago today, I started this thread. Just by luck, I have something to post for its 9th Anniversary.
Last month my son went to a rummage sale. He texted me a photo of a glove and asked "Dad, do you want this? It's $5.00." I texted back,
YES!!!! So he bought it and was finally able to drop it off today. It's marked OK Mfg. Co. Ada, Ohio. JD-G. Below that is a large U.S. which I assume means it's a military issue? No player endorsement. Still pretty soft with a very clean interior. Some scuffs and scrapes, mostly on the back. Not bad for 5 bucks!

Picked this up (not cheap) in a local estate auction. Was in town I grew up in, a mile from where I played Little League. Sharp glove!

dumb, blind luck. and good friends. Sitting in San Jose but reading a Craigslist ad from Carson City, Nevada with gloves to sell. Wanted to purchase but they will not ship, even when $$$ raised. Comes to the rescue my friend Todd, who volunteers to drive from Sacramento 2 hours, get the gloves, then reverse course. (A friend indeed. Many thanks Todd).
Gloves acquired include the webless, workman's glove (yes, I know some think that if it has a crescent, then not true workman's. Bah, humbug). This will clean up, add some color to the finger tips. Inner palm gone but, hey, it's 125 years old.
Other glove is a Kel Wel 533 (almost certainly a Dazzy Vance model but marking are light)
Mitt is an old Reach, with a great back and a so-so worn-out white front with no markings.
I am in disbelief as to my luck.

Way to go Carmi! I go to Reno (Tahoe) all the time and would have loved to make the 9-10 hour drive for you just to see that in person. So happy for you. I love when new to the hobby gloves surface. So exciting for me. Congrats on your pickup.

agree with rescuing gloves not in the mainstream. This one was special and it is cleaning up nicely.
