Glove works was kind enough to send the glove collector some snaps of his A2000 and XPG models which we used on our lead story in the latest glove newsletter. Thanks again MIKE!!!!@@
Now, Bob Clevenhagen the glove designer at Rawlings emailed me after getting his issue that he hadn't realized how close in pattern they were. Mike let us know that the XPGs seemed to be heavier and more padded. A 1950s Rawlings official told me years ago that he thought the Wilson glove designers just used some ideas Rawlings had. Maybe, maybe not. Rawlings problem might have been the misplaced focus at the time on its Trapeze models.
This was a landmark time for a remarkably new glove invention which is with us still today! :idea:

I received my issue of the newsletter on Monday and immediately read it from cover to cover. I thought this was probably the best issue I had ever read. The story on the A2000 and XPG models was excellent. This was a special time in glove design. Who would have thought that those concepts would still be the basis for pro level gloves 50 years later. Also, the return of favor the Trapeze has proven that Rawlings was on the right track there also. Thanks Joe for all of your hard work! Can't wait for the next issue.

Joe's newsletter has been a vital link in the glove hobby for many years. Joe is a great guy and you should consider giving him a call by phone just to say hi. He loves meeting new glovers. By the way, glad to meet another one.
