Hello all!

My first post here. I saw a link to this site from GameUsedUniverse.com I always wanted to get an old mit and clean it up but i have know idea what to do, or where to look for them. I am mainly a collector of game used WHite Sox memorabilia.

I live about 6o miles west of Chicago in DeKalb, Il. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago but now I engoy the quiet out here.

I am trying to complete a set of 2005 Game Used bats from the Sox. I am at 67% as of right now. I also have some odd ball stuff like Game Used hats, Helmets, bunting from opening day, plus the actual printing plate from the Daily Southtown the day after they won the series.

I hope to contribute as I gain knowledge and hope to learn as much as I can about this interesting hobby.

I saw some people are from Naperville and surounding areas so I know there are others in the area like me.

Take care, below are some of my items I enjoy to collect. I would like to clean up some old mits for my display room.

Welcome ChicagoGlen! I'm not far from you as I live in the Iowa Quad Cities. I drive by DeKalb on my way to Chicago quite often. My son always wants to stop at the Oasis and get candy...

Great photos and nice collection you have going on there! I am a Cubs fan, but I am one of the few who roots for the White Sox as well...

Moose Skowron is a great guy. He came to the Quad Cities about a year or so ago and signed autographs and gave a mini-presentation. He is a very personable and funny man. My son and I have a very similar picture with Moose.

He told a great story about when he was traded from the Yankees to Los Angeles and then had to face his former team, including his very good friend, Mickey Mantle. He was playing first base and Mantle got a single. Wanting to chat it up with his old pal, Moose tried to start a conversation but Mantle ignored him. With tight lips, Mantle carefully explained to him that the coach would upset with him if he was caught talking to a Dodger. :) They remained very good friends and Moose was actually one of Mantle's pallbearers at his funeral.

Great Story! I got the picture at this years Soxfest. I am the ugly guy on the left. It was a couples wekend. Our wives shopped while we had a blast at the fest. Got to have beers at night with Minoso, Bill Melton, Kevin Hicjkey, David Aardsma, Ken Kravec, etc. Just a bunch of guys shooting the bull.

I hope to learn a lot from you all.

Here are a couple more pictures from Soxfest.
