Is there a website that dates the different tags
on baseball gloves? I have a Rawlings BOF,
Bob O'Farrell MITB catchers mitt. It's drop dead
mint with only the stampings faded and i'm assuming
the model # is BOF. Thats what is stamped on the Rawlings
box and the glove. The tag looks to be after the cloud patch
was used. If anyone could point me in the right direction or
if you need me to post a photo and i can so. Thanks...Mark

exists a Rawlings patch dating photo guide. I'll have to look for it. Go ahead and post your patch picture and maybe I can help later.

You might have to switch your preferences in your Flickr account so others can view it. The link works but no public pictures are available. Thanks

Yes, it works now! Thanks.
What a gorgeous glove! I would guess early to mid 1940's but I'm not positive, maybe a little earlier even.

The BOF model with O'Farrell's endorsement appears in the 1941, 1942 and 1943 catalogs. It looks like it changed to Bob Swift in 1947. The Catalog Source book doesn't have info for 1944-1946. That should narrow it down a little bit.
The black cloud patch

The black cloud Rawlings patch with the Rawlings and St. Louis in red over the black background is thought to be used from 1945 to 1950, could have been slightly earlier maybe during war years.
Brett's right about the catalog book showing the years for the BOF and O'Farrell. One good gauge on dating is that the glove companies usually waited a few years after the player hit the big leagues to put his name on a glove or mitt. Then the name went off normally when the player left the big leagues or for other reasons.

Thanks Joe & Brett ! I swear i have been so busy with my move that i just
looked Mr. O'Farell up and this guy lived to be 92 yrs old. Debut with ChC
in 1915 and played for StL and the NYG. He was in the 1918 WS VS BOS.
I got a great deal on the glove and it really makes me want to collect high
end pieces. Even if i only buy a couple a year. Thank you all again for
looking up the glove info for me. .....Mark
