Another Reach baseball display, this one circa 1920s-30s followed by a Ken Wel poster from the same era.

The KenWel poster is a rare one and features the early company logo. Healthy bidding for that one at auction.
Some Reach magazine ads from 1910-20.

This framed Jarvis ad sold for over $1600. Ty Cobb was an astute investor buying early into Coco Cola and General Motors. He was baseball's highest paid player and invested in W.B. Jarvis Co. in 1912. He became a director of the company.

Gloves have been manufactured from several different materials over the years, cowhide, horsehide, kangaroo and of course the hide of the wild nauga, also known as pleather. Cannot say if Goldsmith was using this hide in 1916, but for certain in 1917 their top of the line glove model TB was constructed of something a little different. Catalog ad presents it as "oil tempered waterproof otter side leather". It was their only glove that featured it. Continued in 1918, unsure about 1919, it was gone by 1920. Page is from 1918 catalog.

In addition to the otter hide, the TB was also made from horsehide, cowhide and elk. Interesting to note, the 1918 TB was advertised as a combination fielders/first baseman's glove. The last iteration of the model TB was in 1925 when it was listed only in the first baseman's section of the catalog and rebranded as a model FB. The pinky lacing is cool. That is one rare glove.

Mike,
Thanks for posting the extra info. So we know gloves have been made from cows, horses, kangaroos, elk, deer and dogs. Are you aware of any other types of leather that have been used over the years?

Early catalogs list a variety of hides for gloves. Some others are pig, goat and sheep skin. I had an early dog skin catchers mitt and the leather was pretty thin.
