Oral Hildebrand in 1939. He may be using a D&M Wes Ferrell model.

Charlie Root from 1928 with what looks to be a glove similar to this D&M model from their 1927 catalog.

Found this photo of GC Alexander. Unfortunately the resolution isn't high enough to get a sharp image of the tag. Any guesses?

Rookie prospect Jess Danna with an interesting one. Looks very much like a Marathon Bill Jurges model.

Guy Bush in 1929. Think it may be a Bill Doak with worn or dirty tags. Goudey used the photo for his 1933 card.

And pitting his heater against a safety glass windshield. Yep, that's how they tested them back in the day.

A group of HOFer's at the Polo Grounds for a war bonds benefit in 1942. Honus is sporting Rawlings' latest innovation. His sporting goods store carried a few Rawlings gloves and mitts.

Major and minor league baseball raised millions of dollars for the war effort during WW2. Most of it was by selling war bonds but individual teams also auctioned off their stars' equipment and their time to make appearances. The Cardinals auctioned off Terry Moore's glove at the end of the 1942 season for $5000, a considerable sum given that the average cost of a house was under $4000 back then. I found a photo of him with the glove but there isn't enough detail to guess at the make and model. Then I saw on the interwebs that the Cardinals HOF and museum had it. Yeah. All I know for certain is the one they have ain't it.

Elsewhere in '42, Joe DiMaggio was sporting a Spalding (made by Wilson) seamless thumb model. Wilson introduced that feature and the one piece H-web in 1940.

Sam Mele's signature was on one of Spalding's TOTL gloves in the 1950's. Here he is with a MacGregor Goldsmith in the late '40's. And a photo inside their factory in Cincinnati.
