A Favorite and a New Glove

Postby fuzzydogg22 » October 4th, 2007, 4:14 pm

The Jensen is in supreme condition, and I just won this Wilson on ebay this week. Does anyone have any info on it? It is a A2600. I think it is now one of my favorite basemitts. It still has all of the silver, front and back.

Beautiful gloves! I was going for that 2600 too...looks even better than I imagined. I know it was top of the line in 1956. Gotta love that patch!

can anyone tell me why the Wilson patch is upside down on a firstbase glove?

Thanks Mark! I feel like my collection has really grown since you sold me that HOH a few months back. I have started to move towards older gloves and am about to start really looking for some nice Rawlings PM's.

Mittmutt, that is a good question about the patch. I think I remember a topic on that sort of thing somewhere in the forum a couple weeks ago. Thanks for pointing it out, I have never really noticed the patch orintation. Does that signify anything :?

i have a lht A2800 which first came out in 1955 according to the source book.same era as the a2600 trapper. it has the same beautiful patch. i also wondered about the 'upside down patch'.

the patch it is right side up if you are in front of the first baseman when he is in the ready position...glove and throwing hand on knees.

That trapper is awesome. So many of the ones you see are in just wretched condition. I'd like to add one to my collection but just haven't run across one like this. Great, great glove.

Thanks, guys!
When I opened that box, I could not believe what I was looking at! I don't think there was a picture of the patch in the ebay listing which could explain why I got a deal on it. Oh well :D
