Cool photo Eric. Looking at the fingers, I think it's one of those stubby finger Goldsmith gloves. Their Paul Derringer model was top of the line. I have a photo of him with what looks like the same glove, only with tape over the web.

The Goldsmith PD was touted as a pitcher's glove because of the extended pocket from the shortened finger stalls. Here's Elden Auker, who had his own short finger model.

This photo is up for auction on ebay right now. Roberto Clemente with a first or second year A2000. If it is authentic, I wonder what happened with that deal? It would have been so cool to see his endorsement on a top of the line Wilson glove.

Great eye Greg, as always!! I think you’re spot on with the Doerr glove.

Here’s another, McGraw and Mathewson, pretty sure these are correct IDs, lol

And another I saw today…Ruth, posing with the negro crowd…gotta love the look on the guys face holding out his hand hoping for a shake. Could be the infamous G41 in his hand?? Or maybe a white Spalding model, I’ve seen pics of him with either of these choices.

A photo of Mickey Mantle from 1967-68. Most often Mantle was seen playing with the Rawlings model DCT base mitt. Here he is with the Spalding counterpart. The mitt is a Super Snare model 42-401.

I think the Babe used that white sewn web until he retired.

Charlie Gehringer from 1933 with a stubby finger Wilson glove, possibly their George "Sarge" Connally model. It may be the same glove on his Goudey card from the same year.

I love the Doak glove photos…obviously a key patent innovation in the evolution of gloves, arguably the most important one ever. It sure was a popular glove when it came out…tons of them floating around out there…but still very tough to find a nice clean example of one…most are completely beat to hell and all used up.

The Connelly glove is a really cool/interesting glove as well, I never knew it was on the Goudey card, awesome!! Here’s another example of one I have in my collection currently…another one that actually was owned by Mike T before me…Mike as all know has a killer eye for good stuff!! Unfortunately, I’m still not savvy enough to get these larger size photos uploaded on here, best I can do is attach the links to JDs website pics, it’s a beautiful example of this glove.

Coming across a photo of a player using the same model glove as one that I have has been a favorite part of collecting. Sometimes the photo's have spurred me to look for a specific glove. Years ago I found quite a few photo's of players using the Red Lucas Goldsmith and knew I had to track one down. Idk. It's just a neat thing, especially if it's one of a favorite player.
Hope you don't mind me posting your glove from JD's gallery. It's a beauty.

Awhile back I found the photo that was used for Al Simmons' 1934 Diamond Stars card. An artist had to redo his jersey because Connie Mack had sold his contract to the White Sox, along with Mule Haas and Jimmy Dykes. The stock market crash and ensuing depression hit Mack and the A's hard, forcing him to break up his great team. Mickey Cochrane was dealt to Detroit and Lefty Grove and Jimmy Foxx to the Red Sox. Just guessing that Al's glove could be D&M's G40 Walter Johnson model.
