The one everyone was watching ended last night. The 1915 Reach 6F fielders mitt sold for $1067. It checked all the boxes; rarity, age, condition and quality.
Another circa 1915 mitt not so closely watched gaveled in at $101. Man, I was tempted because I like catchers mitts a lot and never had this model when I was collecting. But no, I just stayed on the sidelines. It's a big 'ole top of line Reach model with a patented sewn reinforcement at each side of the wrist opening. It was a clever feature that replaced the riveted wrist openings that most always ripped at some point.
