A Rawlings "Brooks Robinson" model HPG3 HOH glove. The markings are light and the glove shows a fair amount of wear but still garnered $325. The "H" web was a Robinson favorite and more than likely helped the seller carry the day.

Some of the ebay user ID's are familiar to me. Don't have a clue on winner of the D&M envelope.

Here's a couple of interesting gloves. An Alex Taylor glove sold for $142. I've seen it before in a catalog but can't place it right now. I'm pretty sure it's a mid to late 1930's model, one of the last of the sewn webs. The webbing is really extended, emulating the snare webbing that was popular at the time. Alex Taylor Co. was a sporting goods store in NY. Many manufacturers over the years supplied gloves with the Taylor branding.

A 1920's Winchester glove sold for $245. It looks to be in great shape.

A couple of oldies. A sewn web Alex Taylor glove sold for $299. It's a white buckskin model in nice shape.

A Spalding base mitt sold for $700. The mitt shows a lot of wear but amazingly intact with a fully formed crescent pad and black Splading tag. What really sealed the deal was the factory stamps still visible on the front, model CX and the Spalding logo below. You don't often see the early ones with the markings still there.

An early Victor Sporting Goods buckle web crescent pad glove sold for $1400. Needless to say, this was this was a most watched listing this last week. The glove is well used but all original and intact with no repairs. Pretty nice!

Another by the same seller: An early crescent sewn web glove sold for $351. Some wear and tear on this one with a seam repair. I thought the surface attachment of the web to the forefinger stall was interesting.

An early crescent sewn web base mitt sold pretty quickly for $250. No makers mark but looks to be a D&M from the wrist strap pattern.

A W.H. Brine "Dazzy Vance" glove sold for $375.

A circa 1940 D&M base mitt sold for $195. A nice looking mitt. It has "patd. palm" stamps all over the back. The 1940 D&M catalog states the mitt is made along the new streamline pattern. That could refer to the streamline kurv-form patent.

A couple from Hunt's Auctions. A D&M "Imperator" model base mitt sold for $167. A pretty nice mitt all in all, top of the line in its day.

A 1930's Spalding single Rainey Trap glove sold for $142. No back view. A pretty rare design.

An early Spalding sewn web fielders mitt sold for $395. Front side is OK, the back shows wear. A pretty rare design.

A couple of "Babe Ruth" endorsed gloves. A D&M G41 model sold for $899. Some damage to the wrist strap but the glove is basically intact. Stamps on the heel somewhat readable.

A Spalding Marvel Ruth glove sold for $575. The front is great, the back is another story.

br575az.jpg

A James Brine/Rawlings "Bill Doak" glove sold for $242. This one was still soft with little use. The front stamps were great. You also don't find many with a nice white liner although the ink sure didn't help in the bidding. With a little TLC, the glove would be a keeper.
