New glove collector

Postby that_guy » August 30th, 2015, 8:11 am

Hi everyone my names Jeff and I am a new collector from around St. Louis MO

I am new to glove collecting, I got my first one on aug 2nd this year and I am up to 4 now, I think I am hooked lol, I buy and look on ebay only for now because that is all I know where I can still get a great looking glove from the 40ies\50ies that is playable for under 40 bucks. I've gotten a lot of information about collecting and glove care from this forum and from Jim the proprietor of baseball glove collector.com, but if there are any other tips or things I should be looking out for when buying on ebay the info will be much appreciated.

thank you for letting me join this forum, I look forward to hearing from you all

Cool. I'm not the FNG anymore.
"So. It seems like you're in trouble."
"Yes, Babe Ruth signed that ball."
"George signed this?"
"George Herman Ruth? Yes."
"I take it back. You're not in trouble, you're dead where you stand."

Welcome! You've already identified the types of gloves that you like so that's a great start. Look thru all of the pictures on JD's site and that will help you as well. As you encounter more gloves, you'll figure out what you like and don't like. If you buy something you're not happy with, don't let it get you down - we've all done it, multiple times. To people that collect baseball cards, it's mainly about eye appeal. With gloves, it's eye appeal and feel. Enjoy!
