42 - the movie

Postby vintagebrett » January 12th, 2013, 9:11 am

Last winter myself and a few other board members were contacted by the prop company supplying a movie based on the life of Jackie Robinson. The movie is due out in April and here is the first full trailer. It'd hard to get a look at the gloves in the due scenes they are shown but everything looks period. Looking forward to the movie.

I am looking forward to seeing it too, Brett. Was there ever a player with more courage than Jackie Robinson? I can't think of one. Hope there are good shots of the gloves. And Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey? I'm going to have to see that to believe it. :)

Getting eager to go see this movie, my 11 year old daughter even wants to see it. I bet the first half of the movie I will be busy trying to spot the period equipment. I don't know any member's collections to know who's props are being used, but hopefully when you guys have had time to see it you's will let us know!

Movie's out today, and I can't wait to see it. Here are the gloves/mitts that I sold them ... hope several made the cut.

saw a sneak preview yesterday

42 is a good movie, more of a made for TV movie than a big screen experience. Good history movie, not a good baseball movie. More on the history end than baseball.

Funny in that the performance you remember afterwards are Christopher Meloni and Harrison Ford who do a good job in the movie

The actor who plays Jackie seems to be lost at times.

Music in the movie is overbearing at time. Slow start to movie, picks up in the middle ends ok

Could have done move to tell Jackie’s story but it is only about the one season

Has anyone thought about why the speedy Robinson was placed at first base, instead of the outfield when he came up? I have the answer. Others may. :?:
