Brimfield September 2012

Postby vintagebrett » September 4th, 2012, 5:23 pm

The last edition for 2012 is here - the threat of rain scared a lot of people away today - not too many shoppers or dealers. Was happy with my sales but buying was very slow - picked up three decent gloves including a Ken-Wel made Vance Style glove with a tag that reads "WM Westland & Co. Athletic Goods, Quincy, Mass." Will fit in perfectly with my New England labels. Did see once crescent pad fielders glove today but it was in horrible shape. Other than that, not much out there.

Nothing on Day 2 except a torrential down pour - my rain gear did me no good as I was soaked to the bone. Better weather forecast for rest of the week.

Pretty average day at Brimfield - only thing I found was a webless crescent.

Not even a felafel sandwich? Brimfield is really going downhill fast. :D

Passed on the crunch patties with flavor sauce and opted for the Whitey Whackers from the Pretzel Wagon instead.

Here are some pictures of the webless - needs some work but I think it will be a very presentable piece - leather is sturdy and supple. Nice size as well.

It's been a little wait but was thrilled to get my webless crescent back from the doctor yesterday. Looks like rehab worked wonders!

Amazing work! Always wondered, how do you get flat gloves to plump up?

By rebuilding them :D The webless was completely empty. The lining, padding, and crescent were all missing. Getting all the pieces right is the hard part. The shape comes back once everything is in the right place.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
