Sweet! Hoping to catch them this spring - we were all set to go last summer then the stupid venue cancelled the show because Peter wasn't playing. Las time I talked to Scott I told him he needed to put a glove on the cover of one of their albums

Funny. I'm not sure which I would find more strange from you guys, wearing panties or jockstrap to a concert, but 'm leaning to jockstrap. What band are you guys referring to?

I was watching that scoreboard display intently and trying to get myself to knock it over the $700 that it was sitting on for a while. Little did I know! Absolutely amazing piece but outside my comfort zone, until I find the next one at an antique flea market (as if).

The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium Show location on map

In honor of the Jefferson R. Burdick Collection of more than thirty thousand baseball cards—dating from 1887 to 1959—Spectrum has organized an exciting Friday night event. Starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Bonnie J. Sacerdote Lecture Hall in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, early-comers can meet Bill Rhoden and be treated to a pre-show signing of his book Forty Million Dollar Slaves: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of the Black Athlete.

At 7:30 p.m., enjoy a lively panel discussion about our card collection and its relationship to baseball. Panelists include:
•Sean Kirst, columnist at the Syracuse Post-Standard and author of The Ashes of Lou Gehrig and Other Baseball Essays
•Dale Murphy, retired Major League Baseball player
•Bill Rhoden, sports columnist at the New York Times
•Sharon Robinson, educational consultant, author, and daughter of the great Jackie Robinson

After the panel discussion, the supergroup The Baseball Project (Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Steve Wynn, and Linda Pitmon, with a special guest appearance by Mike Mills) will perform a very special set, with songs inspired by the Museum's baseball card collection.

In honor of the event, Spectrum has commissioned Hero Design to create a limited-edition print that will be available for purchase.

This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Breaking the Color Barrier in Major League Baseball.

Went looking for something today and found a box with a bunch of Ragtime Sports magazines. Looking through them I began to wonder what had happened to a few of the advertisers. One some glove guy from Texas! 8)

I also came across one of my old ads.

For murph and anyone else reading that has good taste in music:

Saw the Baseball Project yesterday in Boston after the dismal first game of a Sox/Yankees doubleheader. They played a free show at House of Blues across the street from Fenway. Afterwards they hurried off to do the National Anthem before the second game. They joked during the set that instead of the Anthem, they were going to play "Baby on Board" by the B-Sharps. I offered to be their Apu de Beaumarchais. :) The organist from Fenway, Josh Kantor, played most of the set with them, jumping from the keyboard to the accordion for one song. Rockin' time! If you are able to catch them this summer, they are well worth it and really great guys/gals to boot.

"Counting Cars" just started on the History Channel. It helps if you like hot rods and custom cars. They take junkers and transform them.

cleaning out some stuff and found a VHS tape from the Cruthers Brothers. For a fee of $5 they would send you a tape of the items they had in their monthly auctions back ti the 1990. Cool
