D&M gloves

Postby Rickybulldog » November 14th, 2011, 10:05 am

Really like seeing the different Alex Taylor and Ken Wel gloves. Let's see some D&Ms.

I'll post mine after work. Here's a cool Gus Bell (not mine).

here are two, my first D&M and my latest.
My first is a turn of the century mitt has some of the classic D&M features, such as the grommet web. riveted inner frame(the dark spots at the top of the mitt are rivet heads) and the oval buckle on the back. I like the two piece front section that was experimented with in the early 1900's.

My latest hasn't even been cleaned yet. It is a "Professional Model" DG912. I like the "Spider Web" and reverse button location that shows the influence of the Goldsmith buyout. All the features are patent pending so this is probably a mid 1950's model

Here is a D&M Mike McCormick DG16 glove that I picked up at a garage sale in September. You have to wonder what people are thinking when they write the prices of their items right on the item in black marker. But, it has nice stampings so I couldn't pass it up for $4.

Nice win Murph, I was thinking about bidding on that one.

Mike nice Catcher's mitt.

Here are a few of mine. A white full web with War Department stamping. This one has a complete liner and tiny D&M patch. Took a while to finally track it down.

Here is a cool black D&M full web. This one has a patched palm and a nice, soft liner.

Here's a very cool olive full web with older felt/wool liner. Really happy how this one turned out.

Great looking gloves Ricky! I found this kid's model basemitt way back when I used to check my local Play It Again Sports on a weekly basis. After I paid for it the cashier asked me if I wanted the box that it came in. She pulled it out from under the counter and just gave it to me. Granted, it's not like finding a Ruth or a Wagner, but I was still pretty happy. :)

Here is my only D&M glove - you would think being a collector of New England gloves I'd have more but for some reason they just don't interest me that much.

I also have a sign and envelope with my display

I would love to find a football like the one on the envelope. I've seen the baseballs and basketballs, but I don't recall ever seeing a football.

Got some photos of a Sisler, 3 finger model, and a Walter Johnson glove from a forum member. Maybe he'll chime in.
