Marathon 4237 Grommetted Tunnel Loop

Postby briggs86 » August 21st, 2011, 9:07 pm

Hey Guys,

Just picked up a Marathon circa late 20s early 30s tunnel loop with two grommets on each of the pieces in the webbing for the lace. I can visibly see a name in the palm, however its a real nappy leather and Im always hesitant to clean it with saddle soap so your guess is as good as mine. The model number is 4237. Anyone have late 20s catalog for marathon? I didnt see much on JDs site. What works good on nappy style leather?

I believe that would be a Ken Williams endorsement.

I have a couple Marathons with that Web design (love it), and the are Kenny sigs. Can't recall the model number, though.

I have one for sale. Could have sworn it was a 4287 not a 4237. Does it look like this?

Just checked: Mine are both Marathon 4232 - which could be mistaken for 4237 if the stamping is light. (often the case with these).

Cool glove; I take mine (among a few others) every year on the annual Baseball Stadium Trip with the Guys (4 of us).

I have a couple of these as well and really like them. Mine on my inventory list is listed as a 4237 but they are pretty light if I remember right and one or more of the numbers could easily be something else (darn you, aging eyes!). Either way, I agree with the others that yours is likely a Ken Williams.
