A circa 1958 Rawlings "Mickey Mantle" model MMP sold for $410 on ebay. The glove has seen some use but displays well with the markings in the pocket and the black and gold cloth patch mostly there.

A 1930-40's TruSport "Red Ruffing" glove sold for $80. I've owned the Denkert version of this glove and it is a true "wide body" and the hand just swims inside it.

A few more odds and ends:

A 1964 Rawlings "Big 8" glove sold for $125. Was a special edition model endorsed for use by 8 major league stars of the day. Has the distinctive X web.

A really nice 1950's D&M "Gil McDougald" Personal Model glove sold for $25. A steal for this top of the line glove.

Last is a distinctive Globe "Bob Doerr" glove. Murph got lucky with the generic looking box which turned out to be a J.C. Higgins Brand for model no. 1636. They sold for $21. I also have have a "Bob Feller" model 1636 if you ever wanted to part with the box

A circa 1960 Rawlings "Stan Musial" TG12 model glove sold for $331 on ebay. This is one of the early versions of the Trapeze model like the "Bob Turley" TG24 glove mentioned earlier. The Musial glove has the "patent applied for" on the base of the web.

A Rawlings "Stan Musial" PM HOH sold for $310 on ebay. Interesting that the early versions (circa 1956-57) had the HOH logo on the pinky where "The Playmaker" would normally be.

Lot of modern stuff doing well lately. Here's an 1960's Wilson A2000 with box that sold for $415 and a 1950's Rawlings Mickey Mantle MM4 picture box that hit $3078.88 without the glove.

An early 1960's Rawlings "Mickey Mantle" model XPG6 sold for $716 on ebay. A pretty well used glove still displays well with strong markings in the pocket. The cloth patch and inner lining are in decent shape. This model has the old style cursive Mantle endorsement.

A mid to later 1960's Mantle XPG6 below in arguably better overall condition could not meet its reserve of $650. The newer stylized cursive endorsement doesn't have the same collectible value as the older endorsement.

This J.C. Higgins Honus Wagner sold for $344 in Hunt's Internet Auction. Looks like it could be a really nice deal if restoration is done correctly.

Early 1900's black full web glove sold for $400 on ebay. Glove could be a be a Stall & Dean or William Read model by the quick release buckle design and the location of the stitching from the missing cloth patch on the back of the second finger. Both Stall & Dean and William Read combined the quick release buckle with an arrow head wrist strap. Looks like some previous owner possibly trimmed the end of the wrist strap. Seller hammontree3152 posted some nice gloves and mitts under the "balls" section of "sports memorabilia/MLB/autographs" for some reason.

An 1890-1900's crescent pad catchers mitt sold for $350 on ebay. I wrote about this mitt last year and found out it was made by the American Mitten Co. of St. Louis. An 1893 Simmons hardware catalog carried that brand of baseball gloves and mitts. The mitt is in great shape with little wear.

I enlarged the back view of the Wagner glove because I thought it was interesting. It looks like part of the lining was purposefully cut out to form a deeper pocket. I don't know how Brett fells about it but I would leave that alone and unravel what remaining leather there is to cover the felt pad and put a backing in place to keep the remnants together and hopefully the finger and thumb stalls are intact. I would probably be against stripping it out and making a whole new lining. I personally like the cutout pocket section a lot because it identifies an historical period really well.

Mike,

I agree with you on basically leave the liner alone. Just my personal preference but I would assume that allowed the player to "feel the ball" better when it entered the pocket. A piece of history.

I didn't buy it so I won't have the chance to do anything to it but if you go back to my post, I said restoration, not replace the lining. I would have gone about it the way Mike suggested because I think most of the original lining is there and could be pieced together.
