Rolled lace web and a Rainey

Postby okdoak » June 25th, 2010, 5:33 pm

Well, it's not a Rawlings RR, but I probably couldn't afford one of those anyway. The web looks original to me, but who knows? This glove was a long way from home. The seller lives 60 miles north of me in NE Wisconsin.

I looked long and hard at that Mexican glove, but just couldn't pull the trigger on it.

We know that after Rawlings came out with the rolled lace web on the RR and also modified it for other models, that Goldsmith came out with a similar Valdez Modelo (Valdez Model). Maybe Goldsmith borrowed from the Mexico design (Valdez) to avoid the patent. Don't know for sure. But Mexican glove makers could make the glove and web and skirt the U. S. Patent that was probably on the Rawlings gloves. We do know this type web was later banned on the U. S. gloves for pro use.

Hi Okdoak, Cool gloves. I like them both. Let me know if you get the mood for a trade sometime. Not sure if I could trade you out of one or both. :)

Neat gloves. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Okdoak. Nice gloves! I, too, am in trading mode and have strong interest in the Rainey web.

Thanks, guys. You don't know how much I wish I had 4 of them right now! I've had a very fair cash offer on it, also. But it's the only Rainey web I have so I've got to hang onto it for now. Decisions, decisions... :(
