Latest newsletter out

Postby softball66 » January 12th, 2009, 12:12 pm

The latest glove newsletter has been mailed. This one has some nifty stories.
There's continuing discussion on the Mantle 1956 glove based on owner's reply. Also an interesting article on the Bill Wambsganss glove (used in the 1920 world series for the only unassisted triple play in W. S. history) and a copy of that glove owned by Art Katsapis. Short article on the Globe ball glove company (went out of business in the early 1950s) thanks to friend Jim Daniel who was in contact with the last owner's family member. A revealing picture story on the highly distinctive way Lew Fonseca used his first base mitt, barely wearing it on his catching hand. Plus more.
I'll send out complimentary copies to the first 10 interested glovers. email me at glovecollector@mac.com. Subscriptions are $18.95 for one year, 4 issues.
Thanks
Joe P.

To quote Brian Williams of NBC news, As always, looking forward to the latest edition. This is the one publication I receive that I read as soon as it arrives.

Your humble servant thanks you. Sometimes it seems hard to come up with enough to fill the newsletter after over 100 issues. I do it for g(love)
and what a great hobby trip this has been for me and meeting such devoted
and truly nice glovers that I have.
Thanks to you all!

Great issue Joe! Enjoyed the update on the fabled Mantle glove and the story on Bill Wambsganss' gamer. Loved the Birmingham display of the '58 World Series. The old Milwaukee Braves were truely special; I still feel sad about them leaving all these years later. Kudos!
