Hi ya Doc. Marathons were Montgomery Ward's line also known as MW Sporting Goods. I have seen Marathons going back to the teens or at least in 1" webs but haven't seen them any further back. Hope it's a good one but is most likely a Joe Gordon ; )

Have recieved the glove its a model # 4200 which says charlie Root Jr in the glove guide ( thanks Joe) but in the palm it says softball league and the model number . Will try to post a picture as it is older than the 1938 catalog listing I believe but then I don't really have a clue on Vintage gloves
