Hello from Calgary, Alberta Canada

Love the site. Moved my family to Calgary from Glendale, Arizona on a work assignment.

My son has played ball for the past few years and is really starting to get into the history of the game. I played ball my whole life and it almost brought a tear to my eye when he approached me about collecting some vintage gloves and equipment. Finally he was more interested in baseball than Halo 3.

We're just getting started and I wish we were back in Arizona because this is a hockey town and virtually impossible to find any used stuff let alone vintage gloves. The only real option we have right now is the eBay route but the cost of shipping it here makes it hard.

We're thinking of planning a road trip across the border to find some flea markets, Play It Again Sports, etc in Montana to see if we can't get a few gloves to get us started. We've taken a few gloves we had lying around that were abused by the Arizona sun and freshened them up a bit and now we are hooked on the whole restoration/conditioning idea.

Learned quite a bit here already and glad something like this exists.

I have a home leave coming second week of August but I think we were planning on hanging out around Great Falls. But I've got two weeks to burn so we might head over to Washington too. The prices up here are pretty insane so we're looking to do some shopping.

I lived over at 51st Ave and Union hills.

Not many gloves here either. I'm going to be the equipment guy for our area little league group so I went through the equipment shed looked for any old gloves lying around. They had a big trash can full of cheapo Cooper catcher's mitts. They look like leather in the pocket by the back looks like some kind of plastic. I did find a Wilson Tony Pena glove and a Rawlings Lance Parrish glove that are decent and have cleaned up ok. At least it's something to practice on for now.

If your headed to Great Falls you might as well drive a bit farther south to Helena, Lots more choices as far as antique and second hand shops. There is usually a pretty good show in September in Helena as well and then one two weeks after that in Great Falls. If you want more info let me know and I'll get it to you.
