old hammered catchers mitt. Yikes!!

This old Johnny Bench was given to me, and it is hammered! This kind of project could be way out my league, but it may be fun. Any suggestions? Can anyone help me out with some spare parts? Is this a project worth pursuing? Also, what's with the holes on the back of the fingers?

The only thing I could offer is the upper webbing from a RCM8 (Ted Simmons) which has 4 lace holes at the bottom, instead of the 2 that's on the RL 10. I beleive it could still work. And a cloth patch in great shape.
I got a RL 10 Johnny Bench recently in near mint shape. But yours, sad to say, is frightening!!! May the restoration gods be with you.

The holes running up the back of the fingers are ventilation holes- no laces originally ran through them.

If you can find a web that fits, you could revive this into a servicable mitt. As catcher's mitts go, the RL10 has one of the simpler lacing patterns.

Take out the lacing around the circumference of the mitt, open her up and have some fun seeing what's inside!

That's pretty cool. I'd like to know how to do that but looks like you use a LOT of lacing.

rmiller's hammered glove looks like a perfect candidate.

I'll keep that rolled lacing in mind if I ever come across one like that.

That rolled lacing is a perfect solution!! Go for it!
