The GooGone did wonders for the Reach patch on the back. just dabbed it so as not to rub the cloth too much, fraying it. But the back turned out much better because there was less oil here.

Brett I would have fainted dead away if I'd found these locally. I got real lucky on a chance phone call.
The Ruth mitt is very well made. 10 inches wide and high and comfortable fit for adult hand. The lining is good. That's a strong leather back. they just killed the front with too much oil and it didn't help the leather over the last 40 years or so.
Guy who sent them to me also had some 50 s 60s catchers mitts that he'd used himself. Also a one inch web glove that had been mummified. I'll try and post a picture on it but it's sad.

What is GooGone? Is it similar to Fastorange? I just used fastorange to clean an old Nokona SB1 and it did a good job but I think it may have damaged the leather some. I wonder if the citric acid may eat the old leather.

I use the spray gel and have been using Goo Gone for about 10-15 years.
I suppose it is similar to Fastorange. It cuts the oil much faster than alcohol which I used previously. Can be found in hardware stores. Tends to dry the leather out of course but come back with lanolin or vaseline etc. Stated on bottle, removees sticky, gummy, greasy, gooey problems. Find mine in hardware stores.

joe, i didn't know it came in a "gel". i've used what looks like a spray liquid (liken to that of a drug testing sample)

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. I may post the SB1 just to get some comments on how to do a better job.
