Here is the "inner glove" section of the Spalding base mitt. The back side is sewn into the horseshoe piping of the back panel and there are three leather tabs attaching the loose edges of the glove to the perimeter grommets. it is pretty different looking. it wasn't meant to be removed like the fielders glove. The King Patent for the base mitts and catchers mitts referred to the full perimeter lacing to access the molded felt padding for adjustment or replacement. The molded padding laid on top of this glove section and was tacked onto the glove with thread. Interesting to see how the buckle web attaches inside with the rivets.
